Job Opportunities

Consultant Wood Scientist/Timber Technologist

With at least 5 - 7 years’ experience in the timber or construction sector, and having ideally Level 3 Level 4 qualifications in Wood Science or Timber Technology, this role as a consultant to the wood industries involves site investigations, technical and scientific report writing and some teaching of training and technical educational courses. Potentially home-based, but with office oversight and regular UK long-distance and overseas travelling, the most essential attribute is a strong knowledge of timber and wood-based products and procedures, in construction, and being willing to build on that knowledge to progress their career into a consultancy role. Company vehicle and expense account will be provided, after an agreed qualifying period, for the right person.

Job Opportunities

Timber industry Auditor/Trainer

This is a field and office-based role for an applicant with an interest in the Standards and rules which govern the wood-based products industry. The applicant will be strong on discipline, attention to detail and, because the role has a requirement for extensive UK and occasional overseas travel, a second language such as German would be useful, as well as a strong desire to pass on an existing level of timber industry knowledge, at a hands-on trainer and supervisor level. A good working knowledge of British and European Standards and/or timber grading would be an advantage, though full training will be given, car owner/driver essential, and out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
